Cockney Fact #3:Between the months of June & October Cockneys go into a type of suspended animation. They build large nests in the tops of old oak trees that they decorate with old cans and eye bogies. For this 5 month period the trees of the East End are literally buckling under the massive weight of thousands of nesting Cockneys whose heart rates have all slowed to a complete crawl. At the end of this "hibernation" period the well rested Cockneys crawl down from the trees and dance and sing in a display that can only be described as breathtaking!
Here is a picture of a Cockney just prior to climbing up a tree for a kip. |
